Plum Street Sampler's early Christmas Gift . . . .

We had a downpour of rain yesterday and it was wonderful as we needed it here in Northern California.  Since everything is still so wet outside, I'm using it as an excuse to browse the web instead of cleaning the yard.

I love Plum Street Sampler so I was thrilled to see that beginning week, she is going to provide a free pattern for a Christmas Sampler on her blog.  You will have to provide your own linen and threads but she will provide the pattern in pieces over a nine week period.  I'm in!  What a great way to SAL with others and have a small Christmas project done by the time Thanksgiving arrives!

WOW - That's a long time!

I admit that my focus has been elsewhere.  I really want to retire but have one year left.  My house needs to have at least half of it torn down to the ground and rebuilt but I'm scared to start.  My son is moving back home TEMPORARILY after a small glitch in his life so . . .  How to ease the mind?  Stitch and stitch some more.  Is there any better way?

Here are two summer finishes waiting to be 'finished-finished' . . . .

 This first one is the 2nd kit from the 2013 Ladies Prim Society.  I love the beautiful corals and greens with a touch of blue that were called for.  The design is Song of Spring and it's from Blackbird Designs.  I changed the colors on the "D, E, G and J" for my grandmother's initials and inserted her birth year 1896.  I love the prim yellow linen from R&R productions although I would have preferred it in 36 or 40 ct.  My tastes have really changed in the last few years where I prefer the look of a closer weave.    

My second finish this summer was Betsy's House from Plum Street Samplers. 

 I can't wait to have it framed. 

Not bad for a summer of procrastination!  Now to take on the house.  Take care.

It's never too late for HEARTS!

This is Safe Keeping and was a kit from Shepherd's Bush.  I finished it up for February and it's labeled as a scissor fob but I love it as an ornament - especially for spring through summer.       

Next up is a piece that has been in my stash since last year.  I can't believe I both stitched AND finished it in the same month ~ imagine that!  I love the colors and can't wait to stitch it's counterpart - the heart.

Good Bye January ~ Hello February

I have two goals for stitching in 2013 ~ 

My first goal is to  finish two WIP projects before purchasing anything new ~ TWO before NEW  is the slogan I'm going to stitch up for myself.  Since I knew I had a new project about to be sent to me from Dyeing to Stitch for the Ladies Prim Society that I joined for this year, I finished stitching two projects that I had begun in November  . . . .

My second goal for this year is to actually FINISH what has already been stitched so for that, I have joined in on a new blog created by Charlene called STITCHED: NOW TO FINISH.  Each month the goal is to FINISH off a stitched ornament.  Come join us if you like!
